Title
The Crown and Anchor public house and shops in High Barnet High Street
Description
Front elevations of 45-53 High Street, High Barnet, including The Crown and Anchor pub. The pub was built for Truman, Hanbury & Buxtons in an elaborately half-timbered style. Alongside to the right is a more mundane row of shops including local estate agents Warmans ('Established 1854') and tobacconists Mackenzie's. To its left is the entry to the pub car park and alongside that, a Greek restaurant. There are traffic lights, railings and a traffic island since the buildings stand on the junction of Wood Street and the High Street, by the church.
