House and shop in New Bond Street
Description
Front elevation of a town house at 147 New Bond Street, Westminster, with art dealership premises on the ground floor. The art dealer family business was founded by Frederick Davis (d. 1899), and later assisted by his son Charles (1849-1914). They were leading dealers of their day and Charles was appointed art expert to Edward VII, with clients including Lord Lever and the Rothschilds. After Charles’ death in 1914 the firm was taken over by his two sons, Richard and Leopold. The site is now the Richard Green art gallery.
