The images in this collection come from a series of volumes of 'A biographical history of England' by Rev. James Granger (1723-76), 1769, which was illustrated and enlarged by Rev John Peaviour Johnson from the 1820s to 1880s and continued by Mark Noble. The volumes contain engraved portraits of British historical figures pasted into the volumes.
