Chris Schwarz (1948-2007) was photographer in residence for the Combination Theatre Company at the Albany Theatre in Deptford, South London from 1971-85. The company undertook a cultural development project in the community and Chris Schwarz set out to document life as he encountered it in the streets of the local area.

The photographs in this collection include scrap workers in breakers yards, street scenes in south-east London, shows at the Albany arts centre, images of Millwall football club in the late 1980s and the 1977 National Front march in Lewisham and the counter demonstration that blocked its path.
