Description
A view of numbers 91-113 Ashfield Street, Stepney, looking west between Ford Square and Sidney Square. These three-storey red brick terraced houses with attic rooms have a curved cross detail above the front doors and windows on the ground and first floors. Numbers 107-113 have scaffolding erected across their roofs and a "To Let" board is outside 107. Number 65 Sidney Street, M. Boyask & Son's Sewing Machine Engineers, is in the foreground on the corner of Sidney Street. There are various cars on the road including a van double parked. Number 91 now has an English Heritage blue plaque commemorating the fact that Sir Jack Cohen, entrepreneur and founder of Tesco Stores, lived here as a child.
