Interior of Leighton House in Holland Park Road
View of the Arab Hall at Leighton House, 12 Holland Park Road, Kensington. The house was occupied by the painter, Frederic Leighton, from 1866 to his death in 1896. It was extended by the architect George Aitchison in the late 1800s and a major extension was made in 1877-79, including the two-storey Arab Hall, built to house Leighton's collection of tiles collected during visits to the Middle East. Several columns, two busts and a small pool are seen. The hall was used as a film location for the music videos of The Stranglers' 'Golden Brown' and Spandau Ballet's 'Gold'. The building, with houses Leighton House Museum, is Grade II* listed, listing number 1191541.
