Title
Royal Arsenal Gatehouse in Beresford Square
Description
Colour photograph of a general view of the Royal Arsenal Gatehouse, Woolwich, looking east along Plumstead Road. The photograph shows the gatehouse prior to dry rot treatment and also just prior to the demolition of the surrounding buildings and high wall of the Royal Arsenal complex that stretched along Plumstead Road. These were demolished in order to make way for the widening of Plumstead Road into a dual carriageway and its re-routing behind the gatehouse. A red telephone box is visible at the junction of Warren Lane and Beresford Street and a number of red double-decker busses can be seen along Plumsted Road.
