Description
View of part of a ground-floor room, known as the Octagon Room, at 12 North Audley Street, Mayfair, a four-storey townhouse built in 1730 by Edward Shepherd. Above the doorcase is a pediment with a plaster bay-leaf frieze. The first owner was a Huguenot refugee and later British army General, Jean Louis Ligonier. Later residents include Lord Ivor Churchill in the 1920s and art collector Samuel Courtauld in the 1930s. The house stands today and is Grade II* listed, listing number 1225300.
