60 Kingsway, Holborn. View southwest across Kingsway to the corner of Great Queen Street. Lincoln House, the three-storey building on the corner, is the London office of 'G. N. Haden and Sons, Founders and Engineers, Est. 1816'. They were a very large company with offices in many major cities and specialised in heating and ventilation, with headquarters in Trowbridge. As well as these, the windows have notices for 'Hot and Cold Water Supplies', 'Cooking and Laundry Plants', 'Electric and Power Plants', and 'Contractors to H.M. Government & the Admiralty'. Along Great Queen Street can be seen the premises of 'Adams Typewriters', a book dealer and the 'Rose Tea Rooms'. A fine gas street light sits on the corner with a hanging enamel sign which has a coat of arms on it and an arrow beneath. An ecclesiastical building is further along and relatively newly-planted trees, with protective cages, line the road. Beyond is an open site with hoardings on which there are posters, some appealing to 'Men of The Empire'. A three-wheeled hand dust cart is by the kerb.
