Description
View of an orangery or garden temple to Carshalton House at 8 The Square, Carshalton, seen behind fencing and a high brick wall. It was possibly derived from a design by Leoni who had designed a greenhouse of the Ionic order to be erected in the great garden of Carshalton House as printed in volume 3 of The Architecture of Leoni Battista Alberti, published c1729. It is Grade II* listed, listing number 1357611 and is within Sub Area D of the Carshalton Village Conservation Area. The property is in the ownership of the South East Electricity Board and has previously been used as offices.
