Title
Barn at Gladsmuir in Hadley Common
Description
A view of a barn, surrounded by trees, at Gladsmuir, a grand house in Hadley Common, Barnet. The image shows a long wing with a tiled roof and a shorter projection. In front is a Citroen DS car with registration number ELL848C, which is partly covered with a tarpaulin and leaning as if due to suspension problems. The house was known as Lemmons from 1968 when it was the home of novelists Kingsley Amis and his wife Elizabeth Jane Howard, who adopted the house's former name. Subsequent owners reverted to the name Gladsmuir. The barn within the grounds of Gladsmuir was Grade II listed in 1983; listing number 1078811. It bears a weather vane dated 1775.
