Title
Interior in Wyldes Farm in Hampstead Way
Description
A view of the upper north east room of Wyldes Farm, 2 Hampstead Way, Hampstead Garden Suburb. The image shows the timbers used to construct the walls and roof of the building. Between, the surfaces are plastered. There is a small window in the wall. A blue plaque on the facade says it was the home of painter John Linnell (1792-1882) and William Blake (1757-1827), the poet and artist. In the twentieth century, the farmhouse was occupied by Sir Raymond Unwin who converted the adjoining barn into part of the dwelling. He lived here while supervising the laying out of Hampstead Garden Suburb. For a lobby entry house of its type, the house is regarded as a rare survival on the fringes of London. Dating from seventeenth century or earlier, Wyldes Farm was Grade II* listed in 1963; listing number 1191239. The house was divided at some point and Wyldes was separately Grade II* listed in 1983; listing number 1359046.
