View of the corner of one of the outbuildings surrounding the courtyard to the north of Swakeleys, a substantial manor house in Swakeleys Drive, Ickenham, looking north. The seventeenth-century 'Artisan Mannerism' style mansion, along with the outbuildings to the north of the building, are Grade I listed, entries 1080295 and 1286571, respectively. The house was originally built in 1638 for the future Lord Mayor of London, Sir Edmund Wright, and was selectively restored in the 1980s after a long period of neglect. It has recently reverted to a single large residence owned by CES Properties, who are seeking to develop the 25-acre estate which includes Harrington House and Wykeham House. The single-storey building has side- and top-hung casement windows with a gauged brick arch, seen with a rainwater pipe to the right, a gas supply pipe to the left and a floor drain below, beneath a hipped clay-tiled roof. There is significant cracking of the corner brickwork (with the upper part rebuilt), which was possibly due to root damage from the adjacent tree.
