Description
View along Windsor Street, Uxbridge. Looking north towards the Grade II* listed St Margaret's Church (listing number 1180516), and Ind Coope's 'The Metropolitan' public house, past shops on both sides of the street. The pub sign at number 8 on the right features a Metropolitan Line train which terminates at the nearby, Uxbridge Station. The shops on the right, before the accessway beneath the building to the pub's saloon bar, includes a shoe repairers, a grocers shops with an advert for Lyons tea, and Millers, outfitters, and (Peter) Millets, workwear. Shops on the left include Pearce, fishmonger, poultry and game dealer, seen with a tradesman standing by the entrance to a yard to the rear. The buildings at numbers 10 to 15, right, are Grade II listed, listing numbers 1358419, 1080140 and 1284852. The buildings at numbers 43 to 48, left, are Grade II listed, listing numbers 1080103 and 1080143. The clock tower cupola of the Grade II* listed, listing number 1080208 Market House, is visible behind the church's bell tower. Vehicles parked in the street include a Morris Oxford with a Renault Dauphine hidden but visible through the Morris' windows, and a flatbed truck, a bicycle with a child seat on the back and a man's raincoat draped over the handlebars, and a Morris FG refrigerated lorry of Findus, right parked in the one-way system. Pedestrians can be seen on the pavement on both sides of the road.
