The Harold Samuel collection is administered by Guildhall Art Gallery and many of the paintings are situated in Mansion House. Lord Harold Samuel of Wych Cross, a wealthy property developer and entrepreneur, left it to the City of London in 1987.

The collection includes work by a variety of Dutch and Flemish painters from the seventeenth century including 'The Merry Lute Player' by Frans Hals.
